NOTE: ARIES RELEASE 2003.11, RELEASED IN JULY 2004, NOW IMPORTS DRILLINGINFO'S .DRI PRODUCTION DATA FORMAT.
Using a Drillinginfo *.csv file with Aries:
Download a *.csv file.
Go into Excel and open your *.csv file. Delete the first 3 rows of header information.
Copy the Propnum from Aries that corresponds to the production information and paste into Column A all the way down the column. If you don’t have a Propnum already you can leave this blank, or use the LeaseID #, etc.
Format the date column as Custom as mm/dd/yyyy.
Delete column E.
Save as a *.csv file.
On your hard drive you should have an Aries utility file named Flatfile.exe:
Open Flatfile.exe. The first window asks for your instruction file.
You will need an Aries instruction file with an extension of .IMP to include the above columns in order to import the data into Aries.
The second window of the Flatfile.EXE asks for the Input Data File, which is the *.csv file you just saved.
The third window of the Flatfile.EXE asks for your Datasource - that is the name of the Aries database that you want the production to go into.
Once you have all the information filled in, click on Import and the data should go into Aries. A window will pop up showing the progress of the import.
*A note of caution. If you go into the Product table and the data is not there, check the *.csv file and make sure your dates are saved as Custom mm/dd/yyyy. The formatting is not always saved and this is often the reason the data does not successfully import.
