Production Wizard

The Search Wizard for Production allows you to customize a very flexible production search on over 15 variables, and will present you with a number of different options you can use to display your search results.   See also Market View Search

For production searches, various aspects are dependent on the state.  See State Dependent Parameters

Required Data:  Location, Well Type

Optional Data:  First Production Date, Operator, Lease, API #, Field, Reservoir, Cumulative Production, Practical IP™, Daily Production, Gather Code or Name, Commodity Price and/or Purchaser/Producer, Well Total Depth, Aggregation, Old Wells, Selectable Columns, Display, Order By

Required Data

Location:

-Choose a district, or a county, or even an abstract or section within a county. The counties and districts for which coverage exists are displayed in the drop down boxes.

See Searching by Abstract or Section

Well Type:

-You can search for production for wells statutorially catagorized as Oil, Gas, or Other.  Other includes production from wells or leases that are unknown or something other than Oil or Gas.

Optional Data

First Prod Date:

This is the date that the well first produced.

Operator:

-Be as accurate as possible when you input operator information. Make sure that the operator name is correct. For example, if an operator re-organized and changed its name from XYZ Exploration to XYZ Resources it will have a new operator number. If you type in the old name, all you will see is information related to the previous company name.  See also Searching by Name

Lease:

-If you are searching for particular lease names, please be as accurate as you can be. Although our database has the ability to recognize spellings that are close to the correct spelling and tries to match them, if you provide an incorrect spelling that actually matches a real lease name, you will get the information for the real lease name but not for the lease you intended.

API#:

-If you enter a single API to search for oil production, remember that if the well associated with that API is one of two or more wells completed in the same reservoir on the same lease (and thus shares a Lease ID# with other wells), the reported production amount is for all the wells that share that Lease ID#, and is not unique to the API you entered.

-If you enter a single API to search for gas production, the reported production amount, even though it may be attributable to more than one completion, is unique to that API#.

Field Name and/or Reservoir:

-The field name refers to the field name as reported to the Texas RRC on either the W-2 (oil completion) or G-1 (gas completion) forms. Be as specific as you can when inputting field names. If your intent on specifying a reservoir is to determine where a particular Formation - Frio, Vicksburg, Cotton Valley, etc. - has been productive in an area, enter the formation name. However, if you enter a formation which has a number of pay zones which can be trapped in a single structure or trap, it's likely that your search will return a lot of data that will take a long time to download and to assess, unless you confine your search to a small area.

Cumulative Production:

-This function allows you to search for a particular level of production. For example, you might want to search for all wells in an area that produced over 100,000 BO. Or you might want to search for the under performing wells that might be candidates for re-entry or work over.

Practical IP™:

- This searches by the second month's production for a well.  For wells that where producing prior to the oldest dates we have (See Data Availability), there is not practical IP because it cannot be calculated.

Daily Production:

-  This searches by the average daily production for the most recent month.  Some states, like Texas, update all wells (or leases) at once.  In this case, you know that, for example, the most recent production is a certain date (generally 2 months behind today's date).  For other states, the data may be updated more erratically.  In this case, the Daily production is calculated from the most recent date that we have.

Also, there is a checkbox Only wells that have produced oil or gas in the most recent month.  If you want to only return wells that have produced in the most current month, check this box.  This is not exactly the same as

forcing the daily production for oil as gas to be greater than 1 (since that is an AND function).  This checkbox only requires that the well (or lease) produced at least 1 unit of oil OR gas in the most recent month.

Gather Code or Name:

- If your Drillinginfo account is setup for the  Marketing Package, you can search by Gather Code or Name in states where that data exists.  This option only appears for states that have the data and only if your account is setup.  See Marketing Package

Commodity Price and/or Purchaser/Producer:

- If your Drillinginfo account is setup for the  Marketing Package, you can search by Commodity Price or Purchaser Name in states where that data exists.  This option only appears for states that have the data and only if your account is setup.  The option will return all leases or wells for which the purchaser or price match.  See Marketing Package

Well Total Depth:

-In a prod search, the search by total depth is the "well Total Depth"  (not completion depth).  This is the deepest the well was ever drilled.

Aggregation:

- For states that report by lease, this option forces the search to just return one well for each lease. The particular well is chosen randomly if there are more then one well in the lease. See also

  State Dependent Parameters

  Aggregate Wells in a Search

Old Wells:

- This excludes older wells that are no longer (but were at some time) part of a lease.  The option only appears for states that report by lease.  See also State Dependent Parameters

Selectable Columns Tips:

- Here you have the option to choose additional data elements that will be returned as columns in table view.

Display:

-The drop down list box lets you choose several ways to annotate/customize your data presentation. This function is used when you have chosen to see your data in map form.
