Well Log Wizard

The Well Log Wizard allows you to determine the criteria you want to use in your search of the well log database. See more information on well log vendors in the DrillingInfo system.

(Note &endash; Well Logs listed with DI-WLI or DrillingInfo as the Vendor: are included in the image allocations included with the well log network membership.  All other Vendor: listings are not part of the well log network’s image allocations. You are able to tell which log is from which specific vendor from the table view by reviewing the ”Source” column, which is automatically displayed.

Location Tips:

-Choose a county. The counties for which coverage exists are displayed in the County drop down box.

-You may search in all of the available counties by selecting ANY for County.

-To search by Abstract, you must specify the county in which it is located.

Well Log Type Tips:

-The default is for well log searches, but by selecting Velocity the user is able to search for velocity surveys specifically.  However you can not search for both well logs and velocity surveys at the same time.

API # Tips:

-You can search for multiple API #'s by listing them separated by commas. You do not need to specify the state API and you do not need leading zeros. Specify the API like county-well or state-county-well. Example: 175-4312, 175-00123, 23-44312

-If you specify multiple API #'s, the single API boxes are ignored.

Lease Name Tips:

-If you are searching for particular lease names, please be as accurate as you can be. Although our database has the ability to recognize spellings that are close to the correct spelling and tries to match them, if you provide an incorrect spelling that actually matches a real lease name, you will get the information for the real lease name but not for the lease you intended.

Field Name Tips:

-Try to be as specific as you can with field names. Remember that individual reservoirs within a known field will have field names. For example, the Kelsey Deep Field in Brooks County, TX has over 100 separate reservoirs, all of which have distinct field names (i.e. Kelsey Deep (Zone 18-C,N); Kelsey Deep (Zone 20-A)). Being specific will save you time.

Operator Tips:

-Be as accurate as possible when you input operator information. Make sure that the operator name is correct. For example, if an operator re-organized and changed its name from XYZ Exploration to XYZ Resources it will have a new operator number. If you type in the old name, all you will see is information related to the previous company name.

Depths Tips:

-Use depth numbers without commas (i.e. 3000 instead of 3,000).

Vendor Tips:

-Drilling Info provides access to third party well logs in addition to our own log images.  (Note &endash; Well Logs listed with DI-WLI or DrillingInfo as the Vendor: are included in the image allocations included with the well log network membership.)

-The default for Well Log Type: Log is ”Any Type”, which will return all well logs regardless of vendor within your defined set of criteria.  However, if you select a specific Vendor: (i.e. DrillingInfo) only those logs with the vendor DrillingInfo will be returned.

-The default for Well Log Type: Velocity is ”Velocity Survey”, which will return only Velocity Survey vendor logs within your defined set of criteria.  You are unable to search for all vendor velocity surveys at the same time.  You need to select the specific Vendor:, whose velocity surveys you would like returned when performing this type of search.

Delivery Method Tips:

- This option is displayed on both Log and Velocity searches but is only meaningful on Log searches.  By default the system returns all well logs (raster images, raster images with associated depth registration files, and electronic log files (LAS).  However, if you want to search for only well logs that are depth registered check the box Include: Depth Registered.  Likewise, if you want to search for only well logs that are in LAS format check the box Include: LAS.

Selectable Columns Tips:

- Here you have the option to choose additional data elements that will be returned as columns in table view.

Display Tips:

-The drop down list box lets you choose ways to annotate/customize your data presentation. This function is used when you have chosen to see your data in map form.

-"Display point only" will show the well spot with no identifier.

Truncation Criteria Tips:

-Chose to Order By Depth or County
